Widely accepted as the most demanding race course in the world, the Nürburgring course in Germany always manages to give us a thrilling encounter - and yesterday's F1 European Grand Prix was no exception.

Arguably one of the most exciting races in recent years, yesterday's encounter on "The Ring" saw a team-on-team crash, an entire field pit stop, and 6 drivers - including Britain's own Lewis Hamilton and Jenson Button - spin off into the gravel trap at the course's first corner, before a red flag brought a temporary halt to proceedings - all within the first 5 laps.

A freak downpour after just a single lap wreaked havoc on the course: all but one of the cars were equipped with dry tyres (Germany's own Markus Winkelhock started from the pits, and thus was able to adapt immediately).

The first corner flooded almost immediately - and man's finest example of car machinery fandango simply couldn't cope. Take a look at the first incidents:

But the events were only just starting; Hamilton was able to continue, as he hadn't stalled his car, and he limped in at 9th place as he struggled to regain the distance lost when he slid off.

However, the real excitement came at the front: with 5 laps remaining, Alonso overtook Massa for the lead and the eventual win - and he got the damage on his car to prove it...

The clash led to a spat between the two rivals just before the podium, where Massa (in Italian) told Alonso: "Just fuck off. You have got to learn how to fucking drive properly." Check out their spat below:

Whoever said Formula One is boring? It certainly beats a Ford Transit going round the course...
