After a summer of despair, weeks of unhappiness, and days of wrangling, Newcastle's King Kev has handed in his letter of resignation for the second time in his management career. As with Alan Curbishley, Keegan's gripe was with the owners' and particularly executive director, Dennis Wise, interference in transfer policy. The Toon legend was furious to discover members of his already slim squad had been offered for sale during the final hours of the transfer window.
This coming after the club had sold in-form winger James Milner to Aston Villa against his wishes. What's more, having assured the fans he would make three or four top-quality signings before the window closed Keegan was left with only Spanish striker Xisco and loan signing Ignacio Gonzalez.
Like the first time he walked, Keegan's resignation has shocked the fans and led them to call for club owner Mike Ashley and executive director Dennis Wise to quit.
