By the beard of Zeus! It's official - Anchorman 2 is finally happening!
Ron Burgundy himself stormed the stage during the US chat show Conan last night to give an impromptu jazz flute rendition, and to deliver a very special announcement.
After telling host Conan O'Brien that he looked like a "skeleton wearing a bright red fright wig, who has been thrown out of a helicopter," he proceeded to make the amazing following statement:
"I want to announce this to everyone here in the Americas, to our friends in Spain, Turkey, and the UK - including England. At 0900 Mountain Time, Paramount Pictures and myself - Ronald Joseph Aaron Burgundy - have come to terms on a sequel to Anchorman.
It is official - there WILL be a sequel to Anchorman!"
And then he disappeared just as he arrived, playing some jazz flute (he was probably not prepared, too...).
Production is already in progress, according to the film's director Adam McKay - who tweeted that the film is being written now and will be shot in February 2013.
Will Ferrell has previously stated that the sequel to the 2004 classic would only ever go ahead if he could reunite the cast of the legendary original - so expect to see Champ Kind, Brian Fantana and Brick Tamland all donning their sharp suits once again.
And who knows? Maybe even Sex Panther will make an appearance, too...
