Machete Kills: Lady Gaga In The Cast For Roberto Rodriguez’s Sequel!
Legendary cult director Roberto Rodriguez’s sequel to his 2006 film Machete has been long awaited, partially because of the stellar cast involved.
And last week Rodriguez announced on Twitter that it would be joined by another big name - none other than Lady Gaga.
Releasing a poster showing Gaga in a sexy pair of stockings, wrapped in a wolf-shaped scarf, the director told the world "I just finished working with @LadyGaga on @MacheteKills, she kicked SO MUCH ASS! Holy Smokes. Blown away!"
Gaga later followed up, saying "I will be making my debut as an actress in the amazing MACHETE KILLS BY @RODRIGUEZ IM SO EXCITED!!! AH! Filming was insane.”
Although she has appeared in The Simpsons and Men In Black 3, both times she has "played" herself, so this will be our first chance to see if she can act as well as she can sing. Given her impressive performances, we can’t see that being a problem.
Gaga joins Sky Kids’ Alexa Vega, who is suddenly looking all grown up, and has given a sneak pic of her own look in the film via Instagram.
The follow-up will continue the story of Danny Trejo’s character, Machete, who is this time hired by the US government to hunt down a Mexican arms dealer planning to fire a missile at the US. However, the killing of whom involves having to disarm a weapon in space as well.
It promises to be more gory and more insane than the first round, which Rodriguez developed from a spoof trailer put out for his and Quentin Tarentino’s double-bill Grindhouse project. The recent announcement that Charlie Sheen will be playing the US president more or less proves that.
The cast also includes Mel Gibson, Sofia Vergara, Jessica Alba, Vanessa Hudgens and Cuba Gooding Jr, and looks set to follow up the huge success of the original Machete which took over £28 million at the box office.
2013 can’t come soon enough...
