When a group of ordinary men (whoever else?) set up a neighbourhood watch scheme, they soon discover they're in for a lot more than they bargained for in new comedy The Watch.

Local do-gooder Ben Stiller recruits Vince Vaughn, Jonah Hill and Richard Ayoade (that bloke from The IT Crowd) to rid the world of an alien invasion and this unlikely martian-busting crew look set to leave us all in stitches.

If this trailer is anything to go by, get ready for some gruesome alien-splatting action as well as some spectacular one-liners that we will no doubt be using all summer.

And if that doesn’t persuade you, The IT Crowd’s Richard Ayoade gets his first major Hollywood comedy debut - complete with his trademark glasses and awkward personality. Take this humdinger of a quote, for example...

“I have this one scenario in my mind, with a sexy Asian house wife alone at night. I say 'Hey, have you just rung the neighbourhood watch?' and then she sucks my...”.

Written by Superbad star Seth Rogen, The Watch serves as a nice - and funny - alternative to a summer full of superhero and franchise movies and it certainly looks promising.

The Watch is released in cinemas on 29 August!
