Assassin's Creed III Frontier Video!
As with all its games, exploration seems to be the major theme in the latest instalment of the hugely popular Assassin's Creed franchise.
As the game's creative director, Alex Hutchinson, makes a point of during his narration, “Assassin's Creed has always been about exploring periods in history”. That it has, Alex.
AC3, the newest addition to the franchise, has been three years in the making and comprehensively spans 30 years of the American Revolution - a period of history largely unused by games so far.
It follows the fortunes of Connor, a half-Mohawk, half-English protagonist. His main goal remains the same as past assassins: to take out Templars in the most silent but gore-tastic way possible. This is Ubisoft’s biggest ever game and has a real RPG feel to it.
A key part of the new game is how Connor travels over varying landscapes. Deep snow in winter means that gamers will have to navigate through trees to move more swiftly and stealthily; an aspect that gives this latest offering a much more realistic texture.
Over 200 different species of animal wander the landscape, which is populated with characters that seem to act with real purpose. All potential victims can now be fought with every weapon or tool and can even be assassinated on the run, which looks great.
The end product looks like a major evolution of previous games and promises to give gamers a more complete experience. We can't wait.
Assassin's Creed III is out for Xbox 360, PS3, PC and Wii U on 30 October!
