The magical formula of a tubby Nick Frost and a neatly-bearded Simon Pegg returns to the big screen in their new alien epic, and the inseparable duo do what they do best – play exaggerated, nerdy versions of themselves.
This time, they are a pair of comic book obsessives visiting the States for a jaunt to Comic Con, looking to top off their trip with a pilgrimage to famous UFO sites.
Along their travels, they bump into Paul, a little grey alien (voiced by Seth Rogen) who enjoys getting high, partying and stripping off.
Sadly for the good time extra-terrestrial and his new-found friends, the FBI are hot on his trail and want him locked up and out of the public eye.
Paul might not be as side-splitting as Shaun Of The Dead, but the clever one-liners, geeky nods to sci-fi films and heart-warming bromance make it well worth the watch.
The Hollywood budget and star performances from the brilliant Jason Bateman and the surprisingly sexy Kristen Wiig also make it feel more polished than past outings. It’s good to have the boys back!

The Social Network
Director David Fincher’s take on the Facebook story has had critics salivating since it hit cinemas last year. There’s a top performance from Jesse Eisenberg as the social networking behemoth’s multi-billionaire founder Mark Zuckerberg and Justin Timberlake’s great, too. 8/10
