Film Review: The A-Team
We pity the fool who doesn't read this review! Etc. Check out the trailer, then get the verdict below...
The A-Team
We were worried about this one.
Some things are best left alone (proof: both Hulk movies, Psycho, er, Planet Of The Apes), so we pitied the fool who tried reloading the iconic ’80s TV series. But Smokin’ Aces director Joe Carnahan convinced an impressive cast to hop aboard the famous black van and gives us this: one of the year’s best action movies.
The plot (crack band of soldiers are set up for a military crime they didn’t commit, fight for revenge and to clear their names) simply updates Vietnam for Iraq, while the action is among the most preposterous and slick you’ll see.
The gang all excel in their updated roles, with the dialogue snappy and full of nods to the original (tick off the catchphrases as you hear them) and only a strangely unsexy, wooden Jessica Biel disappoints.
Our only other complaint? That a sequel has yet to be confirmed.
STICK IT ON THE POSTER:
We love it when a remake comes together.
