Movie Review: I Love You Phillip Morris!
I Love You Phillip Morris
The main problem with Jim Carrey’s latest vehicle is that it’s not quite sure what it wants to be. Yes, the Carrey-becomes-gay-and- becomes-a-con-artist spiel generates plenty of slapstick laughs, but it also fancies itself as a bit of a rom-com (Ewan McGregor camps it up as the title character) and even occasionally a serious biopic. The result? A watchable mess.
Skins: Series 4
(DVD, Blu-ray) The final episodes of Skins’ second generation of MDMA-obsessed teens. There’s no need to be sad though, as there’s a new cast coming for Series Five and we soon warmed to this lot and their shagging around after Nicholas Hoult and his buddies got too old. Although there is one thing that’s going to be really tough – Effy’s departure. How can they possibly replace her?
(DVD, Blu-ray) Like a sequel to Get Carter – if you ignore the problem that Caine died in it. Here he goes on a similar vigilante mission, targeting the gangs that are terrorising his neighbourhood.
The Twilight Saga: New Moon
(DVD, Blu-ray) The latest, can’t-avoid-it phenomenon, but not as good as Harry Potter. And no matter what we say, girls love it. Pretend you do and you’ll be in.
