Behold the Ferrari 458 Italia! It’s blood red, it’s sexier than a sweaty Scarlett Johansson, it’s the fastest car to ever leave Ferrari’s factory gates in Maranello and we want one so badly it physically hurts.

Squeezed between the rear axle and the cabin is a new lightweight V8 screamer – Ferrari has drawn on its F1 experience to produce a howling 4.5-litre engine that will rev to 9,000rpm and deliver a searing 526bhp of tyre-smoking grunt.

Whipped through its slick seven-cog double-clutch box, it can nail 60mph in just 3.4 seconds and push on to a mouth-drying 202mph top whack.

And it’s light, too. Ferrari’s engineers have developed a featherweight aluminium chassis for the 458, which means the car tips the scales at just 1,380kg.
