Mugen, Honda’s in-house banzai tuning arm, has just tweaked the already frisky Civic Type R into something truly ballistic with a 155mph top speed.

The crack engineering team have thoroughly overhauled the Civic’s 2.0-litre screamer from crank to cam and kitted it out with a trick induction and exhaust system to deliver a hefty 240bhp!

To save weight, the rear seats have been binned and a swathe of carbon fibre has trimmed the car’s kerb weight by a further 32kg.

To keep the rest of it up to spec, there are also bigger brakes, uprated steering, a rifle-bolt gearshift action and a modded suspension set-up to superglue the Honda to the road. Chuck in a new body kit, fin and intake and you have the slickest Honda hatch yet.
