ZOO took on Matt Le Tissier in a 5-a-side game with a Japanese twist - wearing back-to-front binoculars! Watch the video below to see what happened.
The World Cup may be the greatest show on Earth but let’s face it, group games like New Zealand vs Slovakia will be as entertaining as watching the director’s cut of Sex And The City 2.
But thanks to the Japanese (who else?), a new style of football has been invented that makes even the dullest fixture as good to watch as a Joe Cole step-over.
'Binocular football' is the latest craze sweeping the Far East (and YouTube, naturally) and, very simply, involves playing the beautiful game with a pair of binoculars stuck to your face – backwards.
So ZOO dusted off our shooting boots, grabbed a helmet and went up against ex-England star Matt Le Tissier for the first 5-a-side game of binocular football ever played in the UK to see if it could catch on in South Africa.
The outcome? The most hilarious 11-11 draw you’re ever likely to see.
Which is why we recommend that Fifa introduces it for the less exciting group games – and make Nigeria vs South Korea an instant World Cup classic!
