ZOO's Six Rounds With Carl Froch!

Carl Froch

Round 1: How's Life As The Champ?
'I'm flying the flag for Britain as our only World Champion boxer, but I’m more recognised in the US. My last two fights were shown on prime-time TV over there and they pulled in big crowds – it’s a shame British telly hasn’t cottoned on! But I’m not a guy who wants to be so famous I can’t walk down the street. You won’t find me sitting in the jungle, eating kangaroo bollocks to keep my face in the limelight.'

Round 2: What's Next For Froch?
'I'm taking on five of the world’s top boxers at super middleweight in the Super Six series. We’ve three fights each, with two points for a win, one for a draw and a bonus point for a knockout. The four highest-scoring fighters progress to the semis, then it’s the final. My belt is on the line and so is Mikkel Kessler’s WBA belt. The winner will be the undisputed champion and gets pound-for-pound status.'

Round 3: Who's Your Next Opponent?
'First up is Andre Dirrell on Saturday. He’s a young, hungry, up-and-coming American. He’s a typical blow-smoke-up-the-backside Yank and thinks he’s coming to Nottingham to take away my title. Unfortunately for him, I’m in great shape and he’ll have a mountain to climb with my supporters behind me. I wouldn’t want to do his job. I’ve got an 80 per cent knockout record and I’ll definitely be looking for the bonus points.'

Round 4: Are You A Tear-Up Merchant?
'I've got a lot of boxing ability; a long jab, good range and good timing, but I can get drawn into brawling because I punch hard. I know once I start landing my devastating blows, the fight is close to being over so it’s almost like cheating. I go to war but don’t take much punishment. I’ve only ever had one cut in my life, I’ve never broken my nose and I don’t look like the elephant man.'

Round 5: What Do You Think Of Calzaghe?
'Joe Calzaghe is now happily retired so I won’t give him any stick, but did you see his dancing on Strictly? He was as stiff as a plank, which is a surprise because, as a fighter, I expected him to be lighter on his toes. But he’s representing boxing so good luck to him. He had a fantastic career and what he achieved was brilliant – he was an undefeated World Champion and, although he was very wise to avoid me, you’ve got to respect that.'

Round 6: Is It True You're A Property Tycoon?
'It's my pension plan – I buy old places, do them up and rent them out. My trainer calls me Rigsby Renovations from the TV show Rising Damp, because I like to do the tiling, plastering and painting myself. I’m a soft landlord, though, and I’ve been taken advantage of a few times. I had to clean out one place after the tenant left it flea-infested – my brother got bitten 100 times in five minutes!'
