Hamilton: Best Young Champion?
Lewis Hamilton last night became the youngest-ever Formula One world champion in the most dramatic of fashions. In what was probably one of the sport's most exciting races, the young speedster clinched the championship on the final corner of the Interlagos track in Brazil.
Having started the weekend seven points ahead of title contender Felipe Massa, Hamilton only needed to finish fifth to become the youngest-ever champion but nearly conceded the title with six laps to go when Torro Rosso driver Sebastian Vettel passed him knocking him into sixth place.
While the Ferrari garage prematurely celebrated the title, Lewis Hamilton overtook Toyota's Timo Glock - the only driver not to have changed his tyres as the rain fell - to snatch fifth place and the championship...
Overwhelmed by emotion, Lewis Hamilton told track reporters: "I need to rest because my heart is on the edge. It was such a hard race and I'm ecstatic, very emotional, very thankful for my team and my family and everyone who has supported me."
The result meant Hamilton, who finished one point ahead of Ferrari's Felipe Massa in the driver's standings, became the youngest-ever Formula One champion at 23 years and 301 days.
Hence, we've assessed the impact of other young prodigies in their various disciplines and are asking for your thoughts on sport's best young champion. Open the slideshow to view the contenders and then cast your vote.
