How Lewis Can Win It!

For the second season in a row, Lewis Hamilton has the chance to win the drivers' title - but a Ferrari man could still nick it off him in the last race of the season. Get the lowdown ahead of the year's biggest motor race!
How It Stands
F1 drivers, championship table:
1st Lewis Hamilton, McLaren 94pts
2nd Felipe Massa, Ferrari 87pts
3rd Robert Kubica, BMW 75pts
-If Massa wins in Brazil, Hamilton must finish at least fifth to be champion.
-If Massa is second, Hamilton must finish at least seventh.
-If Massa is third or lower, Hamilton is champion regardless of his result.
1. Qualification is Crucial!
"The further up the grid you start, the fewer people you have to pass. There are possibilities to pass at Interlagos, but when you have to overtake, you put yourself at risk. The safest place to be at the start of the race is on the front row, so Lewis must qualify there."
2. Risk-Taking is Fatal!
"In Japan, Lewis Hamilton was the aggressive driver - and he paid the price by finishing 12th. But in the last race in China, he had taken into consideration how to apply himself. He took fewer risks, but drove so well that he won outstandingly anyway. In Brazil, he just has to get home. He doesn't have to go and win."
3. Pride Must Be Swallowed!
"Coming into the first turn side-by-side with Kimi Raikkonen could be a recipe for disaster. As Massa's teammate, it doesn't take much for Kimi to make life difficult for Hamilton. Risk assessment will be key and Lewis mustn't get drawn into unnecessary battles. If he swallows his pride, he can celebrate being world champion for a year."
4. Massa is Under More Pressure!
"Hamilton's Brazilian title rival Felipe Massa goes into his home race under massive scrutiny. Both face huge pressure, but Massa has more. After all, he has his home crowd and Ferrari - basically the whole of Brazil and Italy - on his back. And he knows that if Lewis is near to him, he won't be world champ."
5. Anti-Lewis Brigade Can't Affect Things!
"There are some sour grapes towards Lewis. Some are due to his manoeuvres on the track, others just resent that he jumped straight into a top car at the start of his career and is already challenging for the title. Either way, I don't see anyone doing anything illegal to stop him."
6. McLaren Must Get it Right!
"Hamilton's team have been chasing a title for 10 years. Just like their driver, they all feel pressure about their decisions. Sometimes they don't make the right ones and they can pay for it. Ferrari know this too - they've made horrendous mistakes this year. It comes down to who's doing the best job consistently. Right now, that's McLaren."
7. Rain is Hamilton's Friend!
"I'm not saying Lewis should be praying for rain, and he'll be quite happy if it's dry. But if we get one of the typical Brazilian downpours, I'll be surprised if Ferrari get anywhere near him. We've seen the Ferraris trying to get round a wet circuit and they are nowhere near as good as the Hamilton-McLaren package."
PUB FACT: The Interlagos track is built in between two lakes, which is how the track's name literally translates from Portuguese.
