iTunes Festival 2012: Example And DJ Fresh Keep The Roundhouse Bouncing!
Guess what we learned today? Example - the mouthy, pop rapper - used to be a standup comedian before he began fronting massive pop hits. And you know what? He was actually pretty good!
Even though Example turned his back on comedy, there were glimpses of his cutting wit during his iTunes Festival performance, from dubbing the seated top tier "w*nkers" to dangling a sweaty towel for the front row, before saying it was like "feed time at the zoo".
Example certainly doesn't pull any punches when he speaks his mind, but thankfully, he didn't hold back on his set list either. The crowd was the most hyper we've seen at the iTunes Festival so far, having been dutifully riled up by DJ Fresh and his FRESH/LIVE band.
DJ Fresh kicked off with drum and bass classic Goldust, before ploughing into an addictive dubstep remix of the classic Dead Prez track Hip Hop, along with his latest hits Hot Right Now, The Power and finally, Louder.
Sadly the crowd didn't seem that enamoured with DJ Fresh and co, but they soon changed when Example took the stage and launched into Stay Awake, See The Sea and Midnight Run.
The crowd were continually bouncing throughout the show and the man himself even forced out a mosh pit from the centre of the crowd. The true star of Example's music is exactly that: the music. Thankfully, the Roundhouse's acoustics helped reverberate the buzzing baselines and tumbling electro riffs.
The biggest highlights came from a crowd-wide chant of the chorus from Watch The Sun Come Up, a wall of hot girls on shoulders for Kickstarts and finally the Ibiza-esque retouch to the show's final track Changed The Way You Kissed Me.
There's still a chance to enter and win tickets to the iTunes Festival 2012, including Muse, Hot Chip and Madness! Head to this way to enter.
