It's been in the hype machine for about three months, and now Ricky Gervais has finally unleashed his celebrity-aimed jokes at this year's Golden Globes!

The Office co-creator caused as much controversy during his last two stints as host as he did laughs, so it was a surprise that the Hollywood Foreign Press Assocation (HFPA) - who runs the glitzy awards - had him back. And maybe he was told to tone down his barbed gags, as this year's jokes seemed slightly tamer than in previous years.

That's not to say it wasn't funny. Gervais still took aim at the likes of Kim Kardashian, Eddie Murphy, Adam Sandler, Mel Gibson, Helen Mirren, Justin Bieber, Johnny Depp, Madonna, Jodie Foster and her Beaver (stop laughing at the back) and even the host organisation itself - and that was just in his opening monologue.

Not even Hollywood hottie Natalie Portman was safe...
