ZOO Hits The Big Reunion!
Each year, the leading DJs, club promoters and the very best in R'n'B, hip-hop and indie get together to perform at The Big Reunion, the biggest winter indoor festival in the UK.
And this year, ZOO was invited along to see the 60 live acts, who perform to over 15,000 people a weekend up at Butlins in Skegness.
This was the first of three weekends, which all host the best from Godskitchen, Hedkandi, Trinity, Cream Classics, Kissdafunk, Twice As Nice and Judgement Sundays.
Smurfs And Hot Xmas Girls!
Our Friday night kicked off with a walk around the huge Butlins arena where you can pick and choose
from different rooms and clubs on the complex which all hosted their own genre of music. If you're into a certain style of music, it's easy to find your way to where you want to be.
The night really kicks off around 10pm with acts such as Ironik, Tall Pall and Chipmunk. Each arena was buzzing with hot girls, lads on their own reunions from the summer in Ibiza, and loads of daft groups dressed up as Smurfs or kinky christmas girls!
Put Your Pineapples In The Air!
After Westwood and Judge Jules kept the tunes pumping into the night, the highlight came from the headline act Calvin Harris in the Skyliner Arena. Pulling in the largest crowd at the main stage in Big Reunion history, Calvin performed his hits to thousands of fans. A few even sported pineapples on their heads in homage to his infamous X-Factor stage invasion.
More DJs with their extremely hot dancers and mesmerising light shows work through until 6am, before everyone goes back for a few hours rest at their chalets.
Throughout the day there are small performances and shows on such as Celebrity Deathmatch to amuse you while getting over the hangover from the night before. But the best hangover cure? Hair of the dog. And so the second night begins!
Monsters On Stilts And Pat Sharp!
Saturday night and the Smurfs are this time accompanied by mime artists and monsters on stilts, and the atmosphere is once again buzzing.
Saturday sees a Rewind stage which have acts such as Angie Brown, Chico and TV Fun House legend Pat Sharp gearing the crowd up with cheesy classics. The acts on the Saturday include more top dance DJs, but this time the main arena hosts indie bands such as Jonny Foreigner, The Holloways and headliners The Wombats.
David Brent Lookalike And Honeys!
ZOO was lucky to get backstage access to meet most of the acts, and only after a few hours had caught the attention of the UK's No1 David Brent lookalike, Tim Oliver. Never out of character, Brent spent the rest of the night with ZOO meeting the acts and their gorgeous girl dancers.
After ZOO favourites The Wombats had performed, Eddie Halliwell raised the roof to thousands of fans complete with his incredible dancing, firework-shooting, multi-coloured robot.
As for Brent? We lost him… Until he appeared behind Mr Halliwell pleasing the crowd with 'that dance'.
A big shout out to everyone involved. For details of the coming weekend, check out the official site of The Big Reunion.
