Amid the bloodied crime scene, he finds a pickup truck loaded with heroin and two million dollars in cash, but when he flees with the money he sets off a chain of unremitting violence that not even the law, represented by disillusioned Sherriff Bell (Tommy Lee-Jones), can bring to an end.

Before long, hunter Moss has become the hunted, pursued from both sides of the law.
