Winning Champagne, Go-Karts and Tour de France

Leon Camier

I had my first win at Snetterton the weekend before last and everybody's been asking how it felt, well... I was more relieved than anything.

I was sort of riding around thinking I had a big lead, got overtaken down the back straight and had to pull my finger out to get back on top. So I'm glad I managed it.

I've been on the podium loads this season already and the No1 spot was no different apart from getting the old champagne sprayed in my eyes by Tom Sykes and not being able to see for about 10 minutes!

There was no party afterwards and to be honest the whole thing is a bit of an anti-climax because you're so mentally and physically exhausted that you just want to get home to bed. Plus there's never much going on on a Sunday night anyway.

All in all it was a good win and hopefully the first of many.

GO-KARTS
Mallory Park this weekend is not one of my favourites I can tell you that. The track is crap! Instead of making the track safer they put another chicane to slow us down.

It's a really small track; you get a lap round it in about fifty-something seconds. A 200-horespower superbike going round a go-kart track is just stupid!

The fans are always good but there's no way we should be going there. It doesn't really suit the Ducati at all, but then again I thought we were really going to struggle at Snetterton.

TOUR DE FRANCE
There's been a lot of sport on the box this summer with the Euros and Wimbledon but I haven't been watching any of it, it doesn't really interest me.

Ok I watch a little bit of the tennis now and again but that's about it. I'm just looking forward to the start of the Tour de France because I love my cycling.

The last couple of years I've been planning to go out and do some of the stages after the riders, so keep an eye out, you might just see me chasing a yellow jersey.
