Squeaky Bums and French Dragons!

SQUEAKY BUM TIME!
Well it was a big relief when the hooter went last Sunday at Hull Kingston Rovers.
We ending up winning the match 29 - 28 but we were leading 28 - 4 at half time and let them come right back into the game in the second half.
We needed a late drop goal from our half back Michael Monaghan to clinch the two points. It was certainly 'squeaky u-know-what' time as Sir Alex Ferguson says but thankfully we prevailed in the end.
Afterwards we all spoke about the need to put games to bed when we have an advantage and it's something we'll be concentrating on in the future for sure.
I can tell you it would have been a long and painful bus ride back to Warrington from East Yorkshire if we hadn't won I can tell you.
FRENCH DRAGONS
We're playing engage Super League's French team Catalans Dragons this Sunday and that's going to be another tough one. I know it's a bit of a cliché but they really are all tough every week in this competition.
Catalans are certainly a tough team to play against and they have been improving all the time.
As well as being another big test for us as a team, I see it as a bit of chance for me to play against some players who are French internationals such as Younes Khattabi, Jerome Guisset and Thomas Bosc.
It's also a great experience for some of the younger players in the Wolves side and we are all looking forward to playing in front of our home supporters again.
I am sure Dragons captain Jerome Guisset will get a great reception. He played at Warrington for many years and was a big favourite with the fans. He's a strong player and gives the Dragons some real steel up front.
STRANGE ACCENTS
One unusual aspect of playing the Catalans is the strange mix of accents they have between them. It's too loud during a game to hear them making calls and what have you but before kick-off when we're all milling about in the tunnel, you can hear them chatting and it can be very strange.
Of course there is a mix some Aussie players and some French guys in their squad so you get this kind of linguistic melting pot or should that be 'Le creuset de conversation'
This produces gems such as 'Bonjour Mate' and 'G'Day Mon Amis'.
Well perhaps I exaggerate ‘un petit peau' but you get the general idea.
Admittedly I've yet to hear any of the Catalans boys saying Eric Cantona's 'When ze seagulls follow ze trawler' line in a post-match press conference but maybe they will on Sunday.
Whatever happens I am really looking forward to it and hope that our fans are singing 'Vivre le Wolves!!' when the hooter goes.
Au revoir until next week.
